About me
A brief intro…
Based in Manchester, i’ve been working as a Front End / WordPress Developer since graduating university in 2020 with a degree in Website Development.
At the moment, I am full time as a WordPress Developer at Gooey Creative. Each day pretty much involves building custom WordPress websites on many different types of projects.
I pride myself on building websites that are both easy to use for the end user, as well as working to the artwork provided to bring them to life as a nice and fully functioning website. Everything is bespoke and I never use a page builder or a pre built theme.
I have worked on many websites in my time and have seen many WordPress admin areas that even I can struggle to use. So with every bespoke theme I build, comes with a self intuitive and easy to use admin area that allows you to update content and build out new pages with ease.

My first role as a developer
From 2017 – 2020 I studied Website Development at The Manchester Metropolitan University. It was in my last year that I got in contact with an agency called Supremo, who gave me the opportunity to come in once or twice a week to get a taste of the agency life and work on live projects. This experience was invaluable and after graduating university they gave me my first role as a Junior Web Developer.
At Supremo, I worked around a team of creative and talented developers, designers, project managers and the bosses – who had been in the industry as designers/developers for a long time. Being around this every day helped me grow not just as a developer but as an individual.
It was here where I first got introduced to WordPress and I saw the potential of what can be done with it. I quickly realised just how much you can do with WordPress, both with building amazing websites for clients, but as a tool that can help me as a freelancer.

Moving onto Gooey Creative
Way before I got into web development, I did initially have a brief spell at Gooey in 2014 as an Apprentice Accounts Manager, but I quickly knew that career was not for me.
After around a year and half working at Supremo, I wanted to dig deeper in to WordPress and grow as a developer in that area and this was what led me to Gooey Creative.
I’ve now been at Gooey for almost 3 years as a WordPress Developer. Working with WordPress daily and being around a team of highly skilled and experienced developers has helped me grow massively both in my expertise of WordPress and as a developer.
Gooey work as an outsource partner for agencies all over the world so this allows me to work on a diverse range of projects. Working day to day building custom WordPress websites on a different types of projects, I have had a deep delve in to all what WordPress can do. This experience helps me in being able to build websites quickly and efficiently as well as the admin area being easy to use for you or the end client.

So what now ?
I love what I do at Gooey and working with WordPress every day only helps me grow as a developer, and in turn, allows me to offer higher quality services as a freelance WordPress Developer.
After my experience at Supremo and now Gooey, I now feel I can offer agency standard work as a freelancer so I will be looking to take on more freelance projects.
Other than this, I’m always looking to grow and learn as a developer, so I will continue to dig into WordPress as well as exploring other technologies.
